The Right Honourable Thomas Lord Fairfax Baron of Cameron in that part of Great Britain called Scotland Proprietor of the Northern Neck of Virginia. To all to whom this present Writing shall come sends Greeting. Know ye that for good causes for & in consideration of the Composition to me paid & for the annual Rent herein after reserved. I have given granted & confirmed & by these Presents for me my Heirs & Assigns do give grant & confirm unto William Anderson of Hampsire County a certain tract of waste & ungranted land in the said County, bounded and by a Servey thereof made by Elias Poston. Beginning at 2 Chestnut Oaks his own corner & running thence No 88°Et: One hundred & eight Poles to 2 White Oaks & a Hiccory in Joseph Watson's Line, Thence with it North One hundred Poles crossing 2 drains of Crooked Run to a While Oak on the point of a Ridge Thence West Two hundred & two Poles to 2 Chestnut Oaks on the end of a Ridge Thence along a Ridge So 20° Wt Three hundred & sixty Poles to a White Oak & Chesnut Oak in John Hagerty's Line, Thence with his Line So 72° Et one hundred & sixteen Poles to a Black Oak & 2 small Hiccories in his own Line Thence with it No 21° Et Two hundred & sixteen Poles to the Beginning containing Three hundred and thirty seven Acres. Together with all rights Members & Appertenances thereunto belonging Royal Mines Excepted and a full Third part of all Lead Copper Tin Coals Rirn Mine & Iron Ore that shall be found thereon. To have and to hold the said 337 Acres of Land together with all Rights Profits & Benefits to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining Except before Excepted. To him the said Willaim Anderson his Heirs & Assigns for ever. He the said William Anderson his Heirs and Assigns therefore Yielding and paying to me my Heirs or Assigns or to any Certain Attorney or Attorneis Agent or Agents or to the Certain Attorney or Attornies of my Heirs or Assigns Proprietors of the said Norther Neck yearly & every Year on the Feast Day of St Michael the Archangel the Fee Rent of one Shilling Sterling Money for every Fifty Acres of Land thereby grantes & so proportionably for a greater or lesser Quantity. Provided that if the said William Anderson his Heirs & Assigns shall not pay the said reserved annual Rent as afresaid so that the same or any part thereof shall be behind & unpaid by the space of two whole years after the same shall become due If legally demanded that then it shall & amy be lawful for me & my Heirs or Assigns Proprietors as aforesaid my or their Certain Attorney or Attornies Agent or Agents unto the above granted premises to reenter & hold the same so as if the grant had never passed.
