This adventure is based loosely on the movie Nate And Hayes, which in turn is very loosely based on the life of the pirate Bully Hayes. I stuck much closer to the movie than to history. When the whole thing was finished, I pulled out the VCR and showed the movie, which none of the players had seen or heard of. During the game, two new players showed up and took the roles of Nate and his fiancee, Sophie. It was especially amusing for us to see how their versions of the characters compared with the screen versions.

Of course, in the movie Nate and Hayes didn't have the advantage of Chris's thermite arrows or the parties other special skills and equipment.
