According to RLB (July '88):

AWB was born 6 or 8 July 1888 in Kokomo, Indiana. (Selma said he died on his birthday, and that was 17 July, so we had listed 17 July 1888.) (And more recently, 1 July 1888 which agrees with the birth of a baby boy Brown in Kokomo. This boy is not Arthur Brown, unfortunately.) The current date comes from his own memory as recorded in a letter to Robert and Phyllis Brown.
