Our heroes have completed their mission to Varkard, solving a number of crimes, rolling back an arms race, descalated an intra-species war, heading off an inter-species war, encountering with alien fairies, and spiriting off an alien Romeo and Juliet, all as a favor to Cantrel, who was have "customer satisfaction problems". They've even earned a million Lucre points to help reduce their debt to him.

So they pack up their bags and head home to report in and take a well-earned rest. Naturally, they get a high priority distress call when they are barely a day out of Varkard...
